ESSA WALLA Fashion Forward 2: COUTURE IN HIGH PRET

The superb success of this season’s show has put Essa Walla firmly in the premier league of Dubai's fashion tastemakers.

His aesthetic comes from his creative unconventional mind. His visuals sizzle, very textural, sensual and experimental. His display of eccentricity and arrogance make his label covetable in boutiques around the gulf.

Essa Walla has become the new “cool”and the undisputed Prince of Pret-a- Couture at recent concluded Fashion Forward season 2.

The collection quickly grabbed the attention from fashion editors and buyers for his highly distinctive silhouettes.

The show was a surprise, to say the least when he
opted for much subtle ensemble away from the quirky neoprene last Season One. A big shift on his designs left us struggling to find his usual  Essa signatures.

His refine maturity coyly flirted with celebratory mute colors such as beige, white, black and subtle prints. The controlled color scheme rather than an overdose of brights  infuses a sense of refinement  in his clothes, making them striking, rather than jarring.

Each piece imbibes innate femininity and ethereal charm as the lines flow from one shade to another with fluid ease.

Essa this time took a detour from his multi-dimensional architectural madness and instead focused on surface. A variety of techniques, motifs and materials came together like vintage laces mixes with fluid tulle and chiffon.

The overall effect was dramatic but restrained when compared to his past season, the runway connect was stronger this time, still experimental, but not over the top.

But what Essa is trying to do, is reinventing couture techniques in high pret, as more buyers turn to niche labels, ready to pay high price for his beautiful pieces.
