SPLASH ‘Forever More’:AW’13 FASHION SHOW

Splash ‘Forever More’

AW’13 fashion show celebrates 20 years in Love with Fashion

Love was Splash's vision at the recently concluded AW'13 fashion show, encompassing both new and classic modes of fashion resulting in fun elegance. Titled ‘Forever More’, the show was a reflection of Splash's love affair with fashion. Taking its cues from '20 years in Love with Fashion', the current campaign from the brand that is celebrating its 20th birthday, the show enthralled the 3000 strong audience of style-conscious aficionados of the Region.

Tugging at the season’s trends to showcase a collection that is talk-worthy, the AW’13 Splash catwalk at Madinat Arena came alive with trends like sweet romance, folklore, varsity and winter sports for men and women.

The show opened in a theatrical style with a model emerging from clouds on a swing amidst mist and fog followed by a poem played on the piano. Simplicity was key as 45 models sashayed down the runway in strong silhouettes and sleek tailoring highlighting the looks in dark hue shades of black, red, gold, royal blue, purple and emerald bringing in the much needed warmth for the season.

The set-up featured a sophisticated and poetic take on romance through the eyes of a high-street retailer with white noise elements that are inspired by nature adding to the more subtle and thought heavy imagery with instrumental and cinematic music binding together the entire show.

Speaking on the unique design and concept of the show, Raza Beig, CEO, Splash & ICONIC, “2013, is a very special year for us and we want to celebrate turning 20 with every activity that we do. At Splash we have always strived to work on unique concepts and sets and this season we tie-in the season’s trends with the theme of love, love for fashion. Presenting a collection of high street must haves from the brand, the show was one big display of affection as our commitment and vows to fashion were renewed with every walk down the runway.”

“With an aim to maximize the reach of our shows and celebrate fashion on a larger scale, we live streamed our 3 shows on all our social media platforms along with other leading online platforms across the Region, where we hope that half a million or more fans and consumers watched the show.” Raza added further.

The Splash Forever More set was divided into two specially made sections, the runway which had mesh hearts and LED lights as a back drop and the After Party arena which was a color display of Red with visual projectors and hearts bringing alive the Love Splash, Love Fashion Campaign. The VIP show was attended by UAE’s crème de la crème where Raza Beig walked the red carpet for the finale along with Renuka Jagtiani amidst a thunderous round of applause. Continuing with the lineup of the two consumer shows, fashion followers and Splash customers also got a taste of the season’s most awaited runway action across 2 shows earlier in the evening. For the Under 21 show, the brand had organized 10 limousines across the town to drive the stylish guests to the Splash fashion arena.

A season of re-invention, rejuvenation and exploration the wardrobe reflects prominent shades of classy, classic and sexy. Showcasing an interesting mix of dramatic atmosphere and masculine style, unique hero pieces like the tuxedo, sequin dress, a short evening jacket, leather pants or a leather jacket were showcased in luxurious fabrics like wool, silk, leather or velvet. Taking inspiration from the era of decadence and extravagance pieces like military inspired jackets, lace gowns and dresses and punk inspired youthful tartan checks were also seen on the runway.

Gold embellishments, military detailing, sheer layering along with leather trims were integral highlights adding edginess to the looks. With utility elements staying, sports inspired fashion was a huge trend on the runway where elements from varied sports are picked and carefully altered to suit the urban city lifestyle, where the elements of style lie in the fabric and the cut that are reinterpreted for a casual active take. ‘Varsity’ was a carryover of preppy influences that aptly capture the feeling of 90’s street wear & creates a link between street sports from urban city and great outdoors.  Taking the ideals of functionality and simplicity a step further Splash translates non-fussy silhouettes and unisex shapes. Oversized jackets and tops in drop shoulder or boxy cuts are teamed with longer length skirts and dresses in a colour palate of muted shades. Timeless pieces which are rich but not extravagant find favor with the urban fashion aficionado.
